Special Alerts
On Wednesday, November 21st, a child was hit by a car in our
subdivision. We are all thankful the child was
not seriously injured. The Knox County sheriff's
deputies were on the scene and will likely be
patrolling the area more often.
We may have some
non-residents cutting through Belmont West from
Cedar Bluff to Sanders, but we certainly have
our own share of speeders living within the
Belmont West boundaries. Drive safely not only
during the holiday season but every day of the
year. Please observe the 25 mph speed limit.

Vandelism
Tuesday evening, September
11th, we had four cars vandalized in the Belmont West
Community. The windows were smashed and various
electronic equipment taken along with any items left in
the vehicles. All were parked in the residents'
driveway, and apparently broken into after midnight.
The sheriff's department
has been notified, and reports have been duly recorded
by the inspecting officers. I told the officers that I
would send out an alert via our email so that all may be
on the look out for any suspicious activity that may be
taking place during the night time hours. They believed
that because of the theft pattern within the vehicles
that more than one individual is involved.
Please notify the sheriff's
department for any, and all, suspicious activity.
That non-emergency number
is 215-2243. In case of an emergency the number is
215-2444.
Follow up: Sandy Amburn
reports, A suspect has been apprehended
and is in custody for the vandalisms of September 12,
2007. He was captured on September 19.
Dog Alert
Two medium to large dark colored dogs have been spotted in the neighborhood and have injured smaller pets such as cats. Residents should be aware there is a leash law in Knox County. Just to simplify the law, it says "No animals will be permitted to stray or in any manner to run at large in or upon public street, sidewalk, or parks or upon the property of another".
The complete law can be found here, Knox County Code, Chapter 6 - Animals
Please observe the leash laws in our county and neighborhood in order that everyone will feel safe as well as their own pets.

COYOTE ALERT
COYOTE WARNING! Recently a
resident reported seeing a couple of
coyotes beside his
garage when he arrived home late
one evening. When notified, Watchdog
Wayne Salmon
contacted both the Wild Animal
Control Division of the Tennessee
Wildlife Federation and the Knoxville
Animal Control Department, neither of
which offered any help other
than
to recommend
that we trap or kill the animals. The
homeowner therefore requested a family
member who is
an experienced trapper to set a trap for
the coyotes. Since coyotes are known to
prey on small
pets and may harm small children, do not
leave either outside unattended. |
